Rumpshaker, Inc. was created in memory of Lisa Martz and continues her legacy by promoting colorectal cancer awareness, supporting patients and families, and bringing the community together through events that make a difference.
Lisa’s story
Lisa’s legacy of hope
Lisa Martz was 48 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on June 22, 2004. Her only initial symptom was fatigue.
Throughout her nearly four-year fight, Lisa remained devoted to her family and continued to inspire the people around her. Her faith in Christ, positive attitude, strength, hope, and determination shaped the way she lived each day.
Although Lisa fought with determination and faith, her body succumbed to the disease on October 5, 2007. Her family and friends created Rumpshaker, Inc. and the Rumpshaker 5K to honor her life and continue her fight by helping others. That commitment remains at the heart of the organization today.

Rumpshaker's mission is to promote awareness about colorectal cancer, raise funds to fight and treat it, and provide hope for colorectal cancer survivors and those affected by the disease.

Since 2009, the Rumpshaker 5K has raised more than $1.5 million to promote colorectal cancer awareness, support efforts to fight and treat the disease, and provide hope to survivors and families affected by colorectal cancer.

Hope Scholarship
Educational assistance for Alabama college students whose lives and families have been personally affected by colorectal cancer.
